Senior citizen killed in rollover crash along Highway 99. Coroner makes identification
The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office identified a senior citizen as the person killed in a rollover crash along Highway 99 in Merced County over the weekend.
According to Deputy Alexandra Britton, 65-year-old Martin Zamora late Saturday night when his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado went off the shoulder of the roadway then rolled off.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the area of Highway 99 and Plainsburg Road at about 11:59 p.m. of a report of the rollover crash.
According to the CHP, the man was driving north on Highway 99.
The vehicle struck a sign and a fence before overturning several times and coming to rest on nearby Silveira Way. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle swerving prior to the crash, according to the CHP. Zamora, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene.
