Road closures scheduled in Merced County

Caltrans has scheduled multiple road closures in Merced County this week.

The north and southbound on and offramps from Interstate 5 to Highway 140 near Gustine will be closed through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving.

Lanes on 16th Street under Highway 99 between G and D streets near Merced will be closed from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Friday.

Crews also will perform construction and bridge activities on Highway 99 from 15th Street to G Street near Merced.

Crews also will close the right shoulder and right lane on southbound I-5 from John Erreca Rest Area to Tin Can Creek beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday until 2 p.m. Wednesday for paving.

On Wednesday, the northbound offramp from Highway 99 to Childs Avenue will close from 9 a.m. to noon.

The southbound offramp from Highway 99 to eastbound Highway 140 near 16th Street is closed and scheduled to reopen in spring 2016. The southbound onramp from G Street to Highway 99 also is closed and scheduled to reopen in spring 2016.

The connector ramp from southbound Highway 99 to eastbound Highway 140 is closed and scheduled to reopen in December.

Motorists should expect delays and take alternative routes whenever possible, Caltrans said. Roadwork is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and materials, and construction-related issues. For the safety of workers and other motorists, Caltrans asks drivers to “slow for the cone zone.”
