Leads hold steady in Los Banos City Council District 1, District 4 elections, results show

In the latest release of voting results early Wednesday, the early numbers held steady in the race for two seats on the Los Banos City Council.

In District 1 challenger Tommy Leyva continued to lead incumbent Kenneth Lambert .

Leyva has 561 votes or 50.68%. Lambert has 537 votes or 48.51% of the 1,107 votes counted.

In District 4, incumbent Deborah Lewis led business owner Travis Loebig.

Lewis currently leads with 727 votes, 52.91%, Loebig has 642 votes or 46.72% of the 1,374 votes counted.

Lewis said she believes public safety is an issue not just in her district, but throughout the city. She said it’s important to make sure the city has enough public safety personnel on staff such as police officers and firefighters. Lewis said she has experienced problems with communication between herself and the city manager and if elected she will work to take care of her district.

“If a new council is elected, it will be my charge to dig in and find out what the unknowns are that need to be taken care of in my district,” she said.

Loebig said that by getting to know people in the community, he can learn about their views and what it is they need.

“Our town has grown a lot these past couple years, I think I can really relay the messages of our whole district to our council and just talk about with them what really needs done compared to what’s going on right now with our council,” Loebig said.
