The California Highway Patrol, California Department of Motor Vehicles and other state agencies are hiring full-time employees.

State jobs are known for offering competitive benefits and enrollment in the nation’s largest state public pension plan. Many of the following jobs have specific requirements, which are linked.

These were some of the latest state jobs available in Merced County on the CalCareers website as of Monday, March 3:

Employment program manager I | Permanent, full-time

  • Department: Employment Development

  • Salary: $6,335 to $7,932 per month

The employment program manager plans, organizes, directs and evaluates Workforce Services Program activities and special programs in the local Workforce Services America’s Job Center of California.

The manager also monitors productivity and provides timely feedback to staff, management and partners.

Other duties include include planning and scheduling of work, training and staff development; monitoring employee performance and taking corrective action.

Park maintenance supervisor | Permanent, full-time

  • Department: Parks
  • Salary: $5,493 to $6,810 per month

The park maintenance supervisor is responsible for supervising, planning and directing the maintenance staff and day-to-day maintenance operations at San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area, Pacheco State Park, McConnell State Recreation Area, George J. Hatfield State Recreation Area and Great Valley Grasslands State Parks. The supervisor may assist with Dos Rios State Park.

The supervisor provides daily oversight of the Four Rivers Sector maintenance program, which includes daily briefings and daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports for program areas.

Other duties include project management, policy compliance and purchasing and contracts oversight.

Public safety dispatcher | Permanent, full-time

  • Department: Highway Patrol
  • Salary: $5,203 to $7,163 per month

Under the general direction of the public safety dispatch supervisor, the public safety dispatcher is responsible for operating the communications equipment to provide communication service for mobile units and the public for the Merced Communications Center.

Senior motor vehicle technician | Permanent, full-time

  • Department: Motor Vehicles
  • Salary: $4,654 to $5,827 per month

The senior motor vehicle technician assists field office managers by providing lead direction and guidance to motor vehicle representatives.

The technician acts as an expert resource on registration and driver licensing matters, and acts as relief control cashier.

Other duties include interpreting, applying and explaining provisions of the California vehicle code, administrative regulations and policies and procedures pertaining to the registration and ownership of vehicles and licensing of drivers.
