Update: Gas main leak ‘resolved’ after closure of several roads, prompting evacuations in Gustine

UPDATE: Gustine police said the gas main leak that prompted evacuations and road closures has been fully resolved by PG&E crews.

ORIGINAL STORY: Residents in Gustine are being asked to avoid several blocks after a gas main leak late Friday afternoon.

Police said the gas main leak prompted evacuations and the closure of approximately 10 city blocks in Gustine.

Emergency crews, along with PG&E, are working to control the situation and ensure public safety, police said.

The affected areas include the vicinity of Henry Miller Park and Hillview Funeral Chapel.

Residents were told that a temporary shelter is available at the Al Gorman Center, 745 Linden Ave.

“We urge all residents and motorists to avoid the affected area until further notice. Public safety and utility crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to resolve the issue,” police said.
