The Merced Police Department has kicked off its Holiday Toy Drive to help bring the Christmas spirit to those in need.

Police are asking Merced residents to donate new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 11 years old.

Toys can be dropped off at any of the local businesses with a collection box. The last day to drop off toys at those businesses is Dec. 5. After that, toys can be dropped off at the police or fire station.

To pick up a collection box, businesses should contact Community Liaison Rosa Alcaraz to request one and schedule a pickup. Alcaraz can be reached at 209-385-6297 or alcarazr@cityofmerced.gov.

Police also will hold pop-up toy drive events in Merced. Dates, times and locations will be announced.
