Gustine man, 43, killed in motorcycle crash in San Jose

A motorcyclist from Gustine in Merced County was killed when he crashed and was run over Monday in San Jose, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The California Highway Patrol said the 43-year-old man, who was not identified pending notification of next of kin, lost control of his vehicle and crashed on southbound Highway 101. He then was run over by a trailing vehicle.

The collision was reported at 8:46 a.m.

The trailing vehicle, a 2018 Kia Sol SUV, hit the man and then overturned. The driver of the Kia was not seriously injured, the CHP told the Mercury News.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, the CHP told the Mercury News.

Traffic on southbound Highway 101 near Capitol Avenue was restricted to a single lane for about three hours while authorities examined and cleared the crash site.
