Monday was the second day in a row of triple-digit temperatures, but the heat is looking to ease off a bit, forecasters say.

The temperature in Merced reached 105 degrees by 4:30 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said. But Tuesday is supposed to be a bit cooler, with a high of 99.

That trend continues through the week, with the high expected to be a more palatable 93 by Thursday. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-60s, forecasters say. The temperature is forecast to stabilize toward the end of the week, with highs in the low 90s through the weekend.
