Travelers trying to get to Yosemite the day after Christmas were in for some frustration.

The main route to Yosemite National Park from Merced was closed for several hours Friday due to a rockslide.

Highway 140 near Briceburg in Mariposa County was closed in both directions, according to Caltrans District 10.

Officials urged motorists and Yosemite visitors to take alternate routes.

The rockslide at Ferguson Slide Bridge was reported at about 5:37 a.m. Friday. Caltrans District 10 said both lanes were open at 9:35 a.m.
