Big rig overturns on Highway 99 in Merced County, causing traffic delays

An overturned big rig closed southbound Highway 99 at Le Grand Road for a time early Monday morning, causing major traffic delays.

The No. 3 lane was closed for guardrail repairs, the California Highway Patrol in Merced said in a Facebook post.

The highway was fully reopened by around 9 a.m., CHP said.

There was no indication of what caused the crash or if the driver was injured.

The National Weather Service in Hanford issued a dense fog advisory for much of the Central Valley, including Merced County, at 5:34 a.m. Monday. It remains in effect until 11 a.m.

“Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog. Visibilities below 200 feet expected in some areas,” can be expected, according to the NWS.
