Popular discount retailer Five Below is expanding in the Central Valley, with a new store set to open in Merced.
The self-described “extreme value” chain said the location will offer “unlimited possibilities” for tweens, teens and budget-conscious shoppers alike.

What is Five Below?
Five Below is a popular discount retailer known for its trendy and affordable finds.
The Philadelphia-based chain operates more than 1,800 stores across 44 states, including roughly 150 locations in California.
Primarily aimed at pre-teens and teens, Five Below offers a wide variety of fun, fashionable and practical items priced between $1 and $5, according to the company’s website.
The store also features a Five Beyond section, where shoppers can find slightly higher-priced items, including electronics, toys, games and more.
Where is new store opening in Merced?
The new store is opening at the Shoppes at Merced development next to the Marketplace at Merced on R Street.
Shoppers can find Five Below at 3162 R St. in Merced.
When is grand opening of Five Below?
Five Below will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m., according to the company website.
Once it opens, Five Below in Merced will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Where are Five Below locations near Merced?
There are several Five Below locations across Central Valley.
The closest locations to Merced can be found at 2901 Countryside Drive in Turlock, and 1321 East Pacheco Blvd., Suite B, in Los Banos.
