Spring is almost here, and that means that spring cleaning may be on the minds of Merced County residents.
If you’re looking to get rid of some junk, Merced County is providing an easy opportunity.
The county’s Community Cleanups allow residents to dispose of tires, appliances and other items for a reduced fee.

All events are from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Here’s the schedule for 2026:
- Feb. 7, Delhi, at Fourth and Gordon streets
- March 7, Santa Nella, at West Comet Road and Venus Circle
- March 14, Snelling, at Henderson Park, 3335 E. Merced Falls Road
- March 21, Winton, at Santa Fe Drive and Winton Way
- March 28, Hilmar, at 7807 Lander Ave. (new location)
- April 4, South Dos Palos, at Reynolds and Shain avenues
- April 11, Le Grand, at Santa Fe Avenue and Jefferson Street
- April 18, Franklin/Beachwood, at Santa Fe Drive and Business Park Way
- Oct. 3, Dos Palos, at Y16575 Highway (Dos Palos Auction Yard)
- Oct. 24, McSwain, on Quinley Avenue, south of Moran Avenue
- Nov. 7 Planada, at 9387 Broadway Ave., between Mills and Fremont streets)
The costs per load are: cars, $1; pickups, vans or station wagons, $2; trailers less than 8 feet, $3; trailers more than 8 feet and 1-ton trucks, $4.
Large appliances are $1 and four or fewer tires are $1.
Household chemicals, oil waste and treated wood are among the items not allowed. For a complete list, visit the Merced County website.
The city of Merced also makes it easy for single-family households to get rid of large items at its bulky item drop-off site.
