Merced County drivers can expect traffic as $1.5M project begins on Highway 165
A Caltrans construction project along Highway 165 in Merced County will cause alternating lane closures and traffic detours for drivers until summer.
The $1.5 million project will widen shoulders, install new traffic signals, add pedestrian crosswalks and more at the intersection of Highway 165 and Geer Avenue in Hilmar, according to a Caltrans news release.
The work will be done on weekdays and is scheduled for approximately 65 working days, lasting into June, the news release said.
The work on the intersection began Monday. Crews will primarily work night shifts, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and day shifts from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Highway 165 becomes Lander Avenue as it approaches Turlock.
