Family raising funds for funeral expenses of Merced man hit, killed by train
Family members of a Merced man who was struck and killed by a train on Monday night have started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help pay for funeral expenses and a memorial.
Richard Candy Luvian, 51, was riding an electric bike across the railroad crossing near Glen and Santa Fe avenues when he was hit.
“(He) was a kind soul who touched the lives of everyone he met,” the GoFundMe post says. “He was always ready to lend a hand, offer a smile, and help those in need.”
As of Thursday night, $1,270 had been raised from a goal of $2,800.
