Caltrans ready to start Highway 99 project in Merced County. What to expect
Drivers in Merced County can expect some closed ramps and traffic detours on Highway 99 starting next month and lasting into August, according to Caltrans.
The $2.9 million construction project will begin June 14 and last about 55 days, Caltrans said in a news release.
The project will fix deteriorating pavement and include electrical work, striping and paving along 16 on- and off-ramps in Merced, Delhi and Livingston.
Crews will work Sundays through Thursdays, on the northbound side from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and southbound from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Weekly traffic advisories and roadside message signs will alert drivers of ramp closures, Caltrans said.
Bay Cities Paving & Grading Inc. of Modesto will perform the work. Drivers can check Caltrans’ online map — www.quickmap.dot.ca.gov — for real-time highway conditions.
