Merced residents can ride The Bus or The Micro Bus for free in July.

The Merced Transit Authority, otherwise known as The Bus, operates 15 fixed routes in Merced County. The Micro Bus allows riders to schedule pickup and drop-off in a limited area around Gustine, Santa Nella, Los Banos and Dos Palos.

The Bus provides residents a cool way to get around, literally — each bus is air-conditioned and features free Wi-Fi.

“Enjoy a stress-free, environmentally-friendly travel experience,” a post on The Bus’ Facebook page says.

For questions about routes, schedules or services, visit www.mercedthebus.com or download the free apps: The Bus Live and The Micro Bus.

Veterans, ADA-eligible riders and riders 62 or older qualify for free rides year-round through voter-passed Measure V. Students at UC Merced and Merced College can also get free rides year-round through partnerships between their schools and the Merced Transit Authority.

According to the post, Measure V riders, UC Merced and Merced College students should continue to show their ID to ride for free in July, the post said.
