Opera remixed
A fusion of classic rock songs and opera arias is planned during “Opera Remix” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St.

Free theater
Merced ShakespeareFest presents William Shakespeare’s “Henry V,” a drama about a king and the battle of Agincourt, at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sept. 19, and 5 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 20 at Applegate Park. Symphony season set
The Merced Symphony is set to open its season with the concert “Auspicious Beginnings” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $39 general and $14 for full-time students with proper ID. Season tickets are $125 for four concerts. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online at mercedtheatre.org.

Swing quartet
The Martinez Quartet is set to play its big band-era music from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. Advance tickets are $12 or $15 at the door.

‘Evita’ ongoing
Playhouse Merced features “Evita,” the Andrew Lloyd Webber-composed musical set to the background of Argentine politics, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday, at the playhouse, 452 W. Main St. Tickets are $10 to $22, and the show runs through Sept. 20.

LB concert series
The first show from the 2015-16 Los Banos Arts Council Concert Series features Hookslide, a four-part a capella group from San Francisco, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, 1105 Fifth St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door or $5 for students with ID.
The quartet has been together for more than a dozen years and has worked with disco-era mainstays Kool and the Gang and Tower of Power.

Art selection continues
An exhibit of selections from the Merced County Fair is on display at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St. in Merced. The exhibit runs until Sept. 22, and entrance is free.
