Oktoberfest-style events set in Merced area
Looking for beer and sausage?
Now is a good time to be hunting as the coming weeks boast area events designed the Bavarian way, full of hops, meats and music.
Here are some of the options:
Los Banos
The ninth annual Oktoberfest at Our Lady of Fatima in Los Banos offers the German-style treats and benefits the Catholic school.
The event is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the school, 1625 Center Ave. Organized by the Our Lady of Fatima Parents Club, Oktoberfest includes about 150 kinds of beer and more than 20 types of barbecued sausage, along with wine.
At $40 per ticket, $45 at the door, the event, along with the club’s auction in March, has turned into one of the bigger fundraisers of the year for the parent club, according to Brett Silva, president of the parent club.
Tickets are available by calling the OLF office at 209-826-2709.
Chowchilla
The Chowchilla District Chamber of Commerce is getting in on the beer-heavy event, and offering Bavarian hats and commemorative steins, according to its website.
Its Oktoberfest is 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Eastman Hall of the Chowchilla Fairgrounds, 1000 S. Third St.
The suds include those from local and national breweries, as well as wine.
German food, games and clothes are also set to be part of the day. Tickets are $35.
