‘Simpsons’ tribute
“Eat My Shorts 2” is a “The Simpsons” tribute show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Mariposa Art Company, 1637 M St. in Merced. It features works from the Wyse Fools Fresno Collective and local Merced artists. Visit mariposaartcompany.com.
Second Saturdays
Second Saturdays, a cooperative effort between the Merced County Arts Council and the Merced County Office of Education, starts up in October. It continues in November, and then January through May at the council’s Black Box Theatre, 645 W. Main St. The program is open to children ages 3 to 8. Admission is $3 per child, with no charge for adults. First show is Saturday, Oct. 10, when Merced College music professor Allan Spencer and the NLD Acoustic Band will perform children’s pop songs. ‘Caesar’ auditions
Merced Shakes plans auditions for an all-female version of “Julius Caesar” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Merced College Theater, 3600 M St. The co-production of the local Shakespeare group and the Merced College Drama Department will look for 15 to 20 actresses, preferably 18 years or older as they have to enroll with Merced College Community Services. Show dates are Jan. 22 to 31; rehearsals begin late November,. Call 209-723-3265.
LB concert series
The 2015-16 Los Banos Arts Council Concert Series features Adrian, a.k.a. “The Buckaroogirl,” a singer-songwriter who writes about growing up on ranches in the American West. Show is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, 1105 Fifth St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets: $20 general, $5 for students with ID.

Fundraiser luau
A fundraiser for the Merced County Arts Council and the Multicultural Arts Center called “Luau at the Lake” begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Lake Yosemite’s Rotary Cove. Oscar Wilde is up
Playhouse Merced features “The Importance of Being Earnest,” Oscar Wilde’s farce, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at the playhouse, 452 W.
