Gunshots reported at 2 Atwater homes
Two separate shooting incidents occurred outside two Atwater homes during the weekend but didn’t cause any injuries, police reported Monday.
Around 11 p.m. Saturday, a man reported hearing gunshots at his 2845 Belmont Court home. When officers arrived, they found a bullet hole in a bedroom wall.
Police said a round from a large-caliber handgun had passed through the home’s exterior wall and into the closet wall. The bullet was found on the floor of the closet.
No injuries were reported. Police said the bullet was taken as evidence, but it’s unknown who fired the shot.
Early Sunday morning, Atwater police responded to a call of shots fired at a residence on 2691 Olive Ave. Although nothing was found when officers initially responded to the 3 a.m. call, police returned to the home about 9:30 a.m. after the residents located two bullet casings on the street in front of their home.
A police search of the location did not result in finding other casings and bullet holes. According to Atwater police, the case is still under investigation.
