‘Chez Mort’
The Golden Valley High School’s Theatre Troupe plans “Last Call at Chez Mort,” a murder mystery and comedy by Lee Muller, at the school, 2121 E. Childs Ave. A preview show is 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the school’s theater. Cost is $3. The dinner show is 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the school’s multipurpose room. Tickets are $5 to $15. ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’
Merced Theatre is set to screen the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a 1975 musical comedy horror film, at 10 p.m. Oct. 30 at the 301 W. Main St. theater. Tickets are $12 at mercedtheatre.org or by calling 209-381-0500.
‘Selfish Giant’
Building Young Leaders, an education enrichment center in Merced, plans a performance with a cast of about 100 children, including actors, dancers and a chorus, of “The Selfish Giant,” a musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s classic tale. Stand-up comedy
Perico Productions presents comic Loni Love, who has appeared on Comedy Central and in movies such as “Soul Plane,” at 8 p.m. Nov. 13 at the 301 W. Main St. theater. LB concert series
“Urban bluegrass” is on the docket when Morgan Canyon Band comes to Los Banos. The banjo, mandolin, guitar and electric bass make up the sound that combines the energy and carefree spirit of early rock with the vocal harmonies and acoustics of bluegrass at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, 1105 Fifth St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets: $20 general, $5 for students with ID. Second Saturdays
Second Saturdays, a cooperative effort between the Merced County Arts Council and the county Office of Education, starts in October. It continues in November, and then January through May at the council’s Black Box Theatre, 645 W. Main St. The program is open to children ages 3 to 8. Admission is $3 per child, with no charge for adults. Call the council at 209-388-1090.
