Spoonful of ‘Mary Poppins’ set for Merced
Playhouse Merced is set to be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious with its latest family-friendly show.
The playhouse’s live adaptation of Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” premieres at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, with several shows to follow, on the stage at 452 W. Main St.
The musical is based on the books by P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney film starring Julie Andrews as the magical nanny and Dick Van Dyke, who played several roles including Bert.
The show’s songs include “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Feed the Birds,” “A Spoonful of Sugar” and “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” to name a few.
Playhouse’s version of “Mary Poppins” stars opera singer Jenni Samuelson in the title role and Colton Dennis as Bert. Marit Medefind and Ronald Daily are Mrs. and Mr. Banks, The children are played by Miori Kennedy and Spencer Brown.
