Merced Theatre offers two concerts this weekend
The Merced Theatre plans two distinct shows this weekend.
Kidz Bop, a pop music sing-a-long for children, is set for Friday, Dec. 11, and award-winning country music artist LeAnn Rimes will take the stage Saturday, Dec. 12, for a Christmas-themed performance.
Rimes has a trophy cabinet filled with two Grammy Awards, three Academy of Country Music Awards and a dozen Billboard Music Awards, according to her website.
Her newest album, “Today Is Christmas,” doubles as the theme of the tour passing through Merced.
I wait for Christmas all year long; it’s my absolute favorite holiday.

“I wait for Christmas all year long; it’s my absolute favorite holiday;” Rimes, 33, said, in a news release. “I can’t wait to share some of my new original Christmas songs with my fans as well as my favorite classics.”
The tour includes opening act Ellee Duke, whose music is reminiscent of the likes of John Mayer, Colbie Callait and Taylor Swift, according to her website.
The show begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $50 and are available at www.mercedtheatre.org or by calling the box office at 209-381-0500.
Kids sing with Kidz Bop
The performers who tour with Kidz Bop Kids are set to lead an audience of mostly children in their renditions of holiday classics and popular music featured in the series of sing-a-long albums.
The Make Some Noise Holiday Tour also offers a “special sneak peek” of the new music video from Build-A-Bear Workshop’s Honey Girls at the show, according to a news release.
Kidz Bop Kids albums regularly top the Billboard Magazine music charts for children’s artists. Last year, “KIDZ BOP 25” outsold some of the year’s biggest artists, including Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea.
The albums are made up of pop music songs covered by child singers.
Kidz Bop features Ashlynn Chong, Bredia Santoro, Grant Knoche and Matt Martinez.
The Kids are set to perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the 301 W. Main St. theater. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Tickets start at $29 and are available at www.mercedtheatre.org or by calling the box office at 209-381-0500.
