Livingston man killed in motorcycle crash

A 34-year-old Livingston man was killed Friday when his motorcycle crashed into a vehicle that turned in front of him on Atwater Jordan Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The victim was identified Sunday as Ruben Ochoa Jr. by the Merced County Coroner’s Office.

According to the CHP, Ochoa was heading west on Atwater Jordan Road riding a 1993 Honda motorcycle when a 1996 Ford F-250 pickup truck tried to turn left from Atwater Jordan onto Arena Road.

The motorcycle crashed head-on into the truck, and the rider was thrown from the bike. Ochoa was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers said the driver of the pickup truck, Faustino Avalos, 43, of Atwater, was not injured.

The cause of the crashed remained under investigation Sunday.
