Gustine man killed in single-car crash
A single-car crash sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday killed a Gustine man, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The Los Banos CHP received reports of an overturned 1991 Mazda Miata off Highway 33 near Marshall Road about 7:05 a.m. Thursday, Officer Dean Emehiser said.
Officers who responded to the scene south of Patterson attempted lifesaving efforts but were unable to revive the driver, Roman Garcia, 30, of Gustine, officers said.
The car was found about 75 feet off of the roadway, and the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, had been ejected from the vehicle, officers said. It remains unclear what time during the night the crash happened because the car was not visible from the road until daylight hours.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the accident, officers said.
