Merced Youth Council meets
The Merced Youth Council will meet at 10 a.m. today in the Sam Pipes Room of City Hall, 678 W. 18th St. On the agenda are goals and projects for 2015. The meetings are open to any youths, and leaders encourage them to contribute ideas. Start Smart youth driving class
A class offered by the California Highway Patrol for new and prospective young drivers is set for Wednesday. The class is free, but space is limited. Teenagers ages 15 to 19 and their parents or guardians are invited to attend the two-hour class at the Merced CHP Office, 1500 Bell Drive, Atwater. Class topics include techniques to avoid collisions, the dangers of driving under the influence, primary causes of crashes and seat-belt usage. The latest “Red Asphalt” video will be shown. Merced Camera Club
The Merced Camera Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Merced County Farm Bureau, 646 S. Highway 59. Call (209) 382-0222 or (209) 761-0260.
United Way coat drive
The United Way is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit those in need in the community. Donate new or slightly used coats to United Way of Merced County, 658 W. Main St., Merced, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Mental Health Board meeting
The monthly meeting of the Merced County Mental Health Board will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at 1137 B St. The meeting will include an update on the blending of boards and the quarterly Mental Health Board financial report.
Menudo at Club Mercedes
Club Mercedes (a nonprofit organization) serves menudo every Sunday at 569 W. Ninth St. in Merced. Serving time is 8 a.m. until noon or until we sell out. Prices are $7 for a small bowl or $8 for a large bowl. Hot tortillas, sweet bread and coffee included, and $5 Bloody Mary specials as well as other beverages are available. Merced flea and farmers market
The Merced flea and farmers market runs every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. behind the fairgrounds, 900 G St. EBT is accepted.
