Merced restaurant plans benefit for son of employee killed in crash
The owners of King’s Asian Cuisine in Merced say they are planning a benefit for the 3-year-old son of an employee who was killed in a car crash last week.
Audrey Unti, 25, of Merced was killed Jan. 7 in a single-car wreck outside Chowchilla. To help her son, Jordan, the owners of King’s Asian have pledged all of the profits on Jan. 20 to the boy, according to Tyler McKean, who owns the restaurant with his family.
Unti worked at the restaurant for about 10 months, McKean said, and was well-liked by the staff. “She was probably the most genuine and nice person I’ve ever come across,” he said. “She was always in a good mood.”
McKean said he is working with Unti’s family to set up an account for her son.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation, Officer Josh McConnell said. Officers said she died at the scene.
McConnell confirmed the crash occurred at a curve in the roadway, which was wet because of rain.
“There were no other people in the vehicle and no witnesses at the scene,” McConnell said.
King’s Asian is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 20. For more information, call the restaurant at 209-383-9838.
