Second victim dies from crash outside Planada

A second person has died in connection with a crash Friday near Planada, authorities said Saturday.

Adam Sandoval, 17, and Robert Delarosa, 20, both Le Grand residents, suffered fatal injuries in the crash, the Merced County Coroner’s Office said.

A 2006 silver Cadillac DTS was southbound on Santa Fe Avenue south of Burchell Avenue about 4:25 p.m. when the vehicle drifted off the shoulder and the driver lost control, said Officer Moises Onsurez, a California Highway Patrol spokesman.

The driver and passenger were ejected. One died at the scene; the other was taken to an area hospital, where he died late Friday or early Saturday.

The investigation is ongoing.
