Merced City Council accepted a flag on Monday that flew aboard a UH-60L Blackhawk helicopter during a combat mission over Kabul, Afghanistan, on July 20, 2015. The mission was carried out by the “Warlords” Alpha Company 6th Battalion 101st Aviation Task Force Shadow, according to its inscription. The Stars and Stripes were presented to the city by Army 1st Lt. Kyndall M. Burgfeld, 27, a graduate of Golden Valley High School, who could not attend the meeting because she was deployed to Baghdad, according to her family. The flag was dedicated to Merced’s veterans.
