Two Merced officers receive promotions

Two veteran officers with the Merced Police Department will be formally promoted Friday during a ceremony at City Hall, city officials announced today.

Don King will be promoted from sergeant to lieutenant and Leon Pintabona will be elevated from officer to sergeant, spokesman Mike Conway said in a brief statement.

King, 46, has been with the department since 1994. Pintabona, 37, joined the force in 2007, city officials said.

Police Chief Norman Andrade will swear in both men to their new positions at 2 p.m. Friday in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 678 W. 18th St.
