Man killed in motorcycle crash in Merced County identified

A man killed Tuesday in a motorcycle crash near Ballico has been identified as Max Dahlgren, 56, of Turlock.

Dahlgren died around 2 p.m. when his motorcycle crashed into a turning truck hauling a sewage tanker, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim’s identity was confirmed Wednesday by the Merced County Coroner’s Office.

CHP investigators said the motorcyclist tried to pass the truck as it was making a left turn near El Capitan Way, west of Santa Fe Drive, in Merced County.

The truck driver, 37-year-old Travis Borrelli of Turlock, was not injured, officers said.

The roadway was closed for a short time while emergency responders cleaned up.

Officers said the investigation was continuing Wednesday.
