Supervisor McDaniel announces office hours in Atwater
Merced County District 3 Supervisor Daron McDaniel announced this week he will hold office hours in Atwater each month to reach city residents.
The “mobile” office hours are 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. every fourth Thursday of the month at Atwater City Hall, 750 Bellevue Road.
The public is encouraged to use the time to share concerns, voice opinions and talk with McDaniel regarding subjects of interest, according to a news release. The move is one of several steps the new supervisor has taken to increase communication and accessibility.
“Since taking office, one of my foremost goals has been to establish a line of communication between myself and those individuals I represent,” McDaniel said in the release. “These mobile office hours are intended to provide easier access for the people of District 3 to connect with their local government.
“I welcome anyone who has questions about county functions, opinions about developing topics or would simply like to come and meet me,” he added.
Atwater city officials said this is the first time a District 3 supervisor has held office hours in the city, which is one of the largest parts of the district. McDaniel’s district spans Atwater, north Merced, Franklin-Beachwood and McSwain.
McDaniel told the Merced Sun-Star he also plans to hold a town hall meeting for tenants at Castle Commerce Center in the next few weeks.
