Merced police: Woman seriously injured after jumping from moving car
A 24-year-old woman was flown to a hospital with major injuries Saturday afternoon after she apparently jumped from a moving car in Merced.
Police responded to the area of Merced Avenue at Parsons Avenue at 1:45 p.m. Saturday for a call of a woman lying in the road.
Paramedics and police responded, and the woman was taken to the hospital with major injuries. The woman’s name has not been released. An update on her condition was not available Sunday.
During the course of their investigation, police learned the woman was engaged in an argument with her father while the car was moving.
As the car was turning from Merced Avenue onto Parsons Avenue, the woman apparently opened the passenger’s side door and jumped from the vehicle, according to Sgt. Curt Gorman.
Police do not believe foul play was involved in the incident. Merced police closed traffic to the area while they investigated the situation.
Investigators ask anyone with information about the case to call Merced police at (209) 385-4725. Tips are confidential and callers may remain anonymous.
