Kaleidoscope event celebrates dance, promotes area studios

Dancers from some of the area’s best-known dance studios will perform at 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Merced College Theater in the Kaleidoscope Dance Performance Showcase.

Sponsored by the Merced Dance Teachers Cooperative and Merced College Community Services, the event allows the public to see options available at area dance studios.

The Kaleidoscope performances will feature young dancers from Denisa’s School of Dance, Mariposa Academy of Performing Arts, Merced Academy of Dance, STEPS Dance Studio, Dancer’s Studio, Merced Belly Dance Company and South Pacific Dance Company. Funds from the event, which started more than 20 years ago, will go toward scholarships for dance students.

Tickets are $10.50 general, and $8.50 for ASMC student body cardholders, military children under 12, and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at Peraino’s at Bear Creek Galleria, Maciel and Co., Gottschalk Music, Merced College Community Services and Merced College Theater Box Office one hour before the show.
