Do you use G Street in Merced? Here's how bridge work will affect you this week
Traffic on G Street over Bear Creek will go down to two lanes during daylight hours for the next few days, according to a news release from the city of Merced.
One traffic lane in each direction on G between North Bear Creek Drive and 27th Street will be closed between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday, according to a news release.
Viking Construction Company will control traffic to finish roadway work for the bridge repairs over Bear Creek, the release said. North Bear Creek Drive will remain open.
The crew asks drivers to mind the advance warning signs and detour arrows, the release said. This work is subject to change due to weather, availability of equipment, traffic incidents and other issues, the release said.
The city is using $3.7 million in state grant funding to pay for the work, city staffers have said. The City Council awarded the contract to Viking Construction Co. and a services contract to Quincy Engineering Inc., both of Rancho Cordova.
