Caltrans ribbon-cutting set for Arboleda Road, Hwy 99 project
A ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday will celebrate the completion of the $127 million highway upgrade and interchange in Merced County, the California Department of Transportation said in a news release.
The Arboleda Road project got underway in June 2012, according to Caltrans spokeswoman Chantel Miller.
The multimillion-dollar project built a new interchange at Arboleda Road and upgraded Highway 99 from a four-lane expressway to a six-lane freeway on an eight-mile section of road, between Buchanan Hollow Road and Childs Avenue, south of Merced, Caltrans said.
The ceremony begins at 1 p.m. Friday on Doppler Road, just off the 179 Exit on Highway 99, according to the statement.
Featured speakers include Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty; Caltrans District 10 Director Dennis T. Agar; Merced County Supervisor John Pedrozo; Merced Mayor Stan Thurston; and Marjie Kirn, executive director of the Merced County Association of Governments.
