Caltrans confirms numerous Merced County road closures

The California Department of Transportation will perform one-way traffic control on Highway 165 from Highway 140, south of Fourth Avenue, to Westside Boulevard for shoulder work from 7 a.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Friday.

Motorists should expect 15-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible, Caltrans said.

The work is part of the $13.9 million Highways 140-165 Stevinson Rehabilitation Project, which began May 27.

Caltrans also will close southbound Highway 99 near the Le Grand Road exit for bridge work. The closure will begin at 9 p.m. Monday and end around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

In addition, the southbound onramp from Le Grand Road to Highway 99 will close from 9 p.m. Monday through 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Motorists should expect 15-minute delays. A signed detour will be in place and alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

The work is part of the $76.6 million Highway 99 Plainsburg Road Freeway Project that began December 2012.

Caltrans also will close southbound Highway 99, from Highway 140, just before 16th Street, to G Street beginning Tuesday. The closure is scheduled nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday.

Crews will also perform various road construction and bridge activities on Highway 99 from Highway 140 to Main Street. Work will occur as follows:

▪ The northbound onramp from Highway 140, near 16th Street, to Highway 99 is closed and scheduled to reopen later this month.

▪ The northbound offramp from Highway 99 to G Street is closed and scheduled to reopen later this month.

▪ The eastbound connector ramp from Highway140 to Highway 99, near Main Street, is closed and scheduled to reopen later this month.

▪ The southbound onramp from G Street to Highway 99 is closed and scheduled to reopen December 2015.

Motorists should expect 20-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

The work is part of a $32.4 million Highway 99 East Merced Overhead Project that began in 2012.
