Merced Theatre hosts three concerts this week
An Australian guitar virtuoso, a honky-tonk singer and a Christian pop band are on the docket for live performances in the next week at Merced Theatre.
The 301 W. Main St. theater will host all of the shows. Tickets are available at the box office.
Tommy Emmanuel
The guitar player from Australia is known for his fingerstyle technique, a complex way to play, and for using the guitar as a percussion instrument. He goes on at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23. Tickets are $32.50 to $39.50.
Emmanuel became one of Australia’s most in-demand rock musicians, playing guitar in a succession of bands, including one of Australia’s best-known acts, Dragon. He supplemented that with a side job as a studio musician, playing on albums by the likes of Air Supply and Men At Work, and on commercial jingles, according to his website.
Travis Tritt
The Georgian country singer is perhaps best known for his 1990s hit singles, including “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” “Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof” and “Best of Intentions.”
Tritt, a Country Music Awards and Grammy Award-winning country artist, plans a solo, acoustic setting for his performance, according to a news release. He’ll also share personal stories and anecdotes about his life and musical influences.
Tickets are $39. The show is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, and doors open at 6:30.
Big Daddy Weave
The contemporary Christian pop band goes on at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28. It is accompanied in Merced by Plumb, an alternative Christian rocker, and Jordan Feliz, whose Christian music has a folky sound.
Tickets are $28 to $54.
