Dancers will exhibit their skills for jazz, ballet, Island-style and other dance flavors during the annual Kaleidoscope exhibition Saturday in Merced.

The Merced Dance Teachers Cooperative organizes the show every year on the Merced College Theater stage. There are two performances this weekend, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Merced College, 3600 M St.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for students, seniors and children younger than 12. Funds from the event, which started more than 20 years ago, go toward scholarships for dance students.

The dancers come from dance troupes in Merced, Atwater and Mariposa, some of the area’s best-known dance studios.

The Kaleidoscope performances will feature young dancers from Denisa’s School of Dance, Mariposa Academy of Performing Arts, Merced Academy of Dance, STEPS Dance Studio, Dancer’s Studio, Merced Belly Dance Company and South Pacific Dance Company.

The cooperative also puts on the Festival of Dance each June.

Tickets for Kaleidoscope are sold at Maciel and Co. in Merced Mall, Peraino’s Jewelers on G Street, Gottschalks Music on Main Street and Merced College. They are also sold at the door.
