A local organizer had invited Merced-area residents to a candlelight vigil tonight in solidarity with the victims of the Orlando shooting during the weekend that killed 50 people.

The vigil and moment of silence is set for 8 p.m. at Bob Hart Square, at the intersection of Main and Canal streets. Organizers ask mourners to bring candles.
