Atwater city officials want to hear from residents in second town hall meeting

Atwater officials are hosting another town hall meeting on Thursday night – and just like the last one, no topic is off limits.

The city’s last town hall meeting in January drew a crowd that overflowed from the community center. City officials were on hand to answer questions about public safety, city policies, homelessness, and unsafe roadways and sidewalks.

The town hall meetings are the first under the leadership of Mayor Jim Price, who promised during the campaign season to increase transparency and communication.

At the last town hall meeting, residents heard about the city’s neighborhood watch program, followed by presentations from police, fire and economic development officials. Then the forum was opened to residents to ask any questions they had.

A number of city department heads will also be available Thursday to answer questions. If an answer is not immediately available, the mayor said, officials will get back to the person.

The Atwater town hall meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Community Center, 760 East Bellevue Road.
