Gunman robs stripper after Atwater bachelor party

A man wielding a gun threatened and robbed a stripper as she left an Atwater bachelor party over the weekend, Atwater police said Monday.

Officers responded to a call in the 100 block of East Juniper Ave. about 1 a.m. Sunday, where they met with a witness who said she was a “Stripper on the Go,” according to a police statement.

The witness told police that she and another performer had worked at a bachelor party and were walking back to their vehicles when they were confronted by a man. The witness told the police that the man, described as a tall and thin Hispanic male, put a gun to the other stripper’s abdomen and “stated he wanted sexual favors or her money.”

The victim handed over her pink backpack, which contained an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then fled, police said.

The victim left the scene before police arrived. The witness told officers that she contacted the victim and suggested she meet with police, but the suggestion was declined.

The owner of the home where the party was hosted told police he was unaware of the robbery.

Police said an investigation into the robbery was continuing.
