A deputy who spotted a speeding SUV with a broken windshield Friday wound up arresting a man with a loaded pistol near North Fork, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The incident took place near Road 200, where the deputy spotted the driver, later identified as Anthony Mendoza, behind the wheel of the vehicle and followed it to a dead-end road. Mendoza was booked on charges of possessing a loaded firearm concealed in a vehicle and having false registration tags.
