Chamber presents Oktoberfest celebration

The Chowchilla District Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest German-style meal and dance will be held on Oct. 18 for one evening only.

A traditional Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October. Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810.

In addition to German beers, wine and music, a variety of traditional food such as wurstl (sausages) along with brezen (pretzel), kartoffelsalat (hot German potato salad), sauerkraut, rotkob/blaukraut (red cabbage) along with German chocolate cake will be served.

Chuck DaFina will play the accordion during the no-host cocktail hour with music for your dancing pleasure with your favorite “transpartner” (dance partner) following diner. Frauleins will be available by the German Tavern Arch for photo opportunities.

The chamber board and volunteers look forward to serving a delicious German-style meal and sharing a fun-filled evening. Commemorative steins will be available for purchase as a remembrance of a special evening spent with family and friends.

Tickets are $25 per person and a table of eight for $200. Sponsorships are available. For more information, call the chamber at (559) 665-5603.
