Trash event will help residents clean up
Residents can get rid of unwanted trash this month during the Clean-up, Drop-off event.
Residents must provide proof of residency with a driver’s license and city utility bill with a printed Chowchilla address.
This is a drop-off event only. No curbside items will be picked up. Residents are advised not to put any items at the street curb.
Customers are to take their debris to their designated location only on their designated clean-up date.
Clean-up day for residents who live on the south of Robertson Boulevard is Oct. 18. The drop-off locations are South Front Street at Colusa Avenue. and South 11th Street at Mariposa Avenue.
Clean-up day for residents who live on the north of Robertson Boulevard is Oct. 25.
The drop-off locations are Santa Cruz Boulevard north of Howell Road and North First Street at Lake Avenue.
Greenhills residents will have the opportunity to participate in the program on Oct. 18. Drop-off locations are Golf Drive and Emerald Street at the Recreation Court and Golf Drive and Pheasant Run Boulevard at the park.
There will be a bin at Granite Falls Way and Golden Sands Way.
There are three classifications of items accepted: greenwaste, metal and electronics and miscellaneous.
Greenwaste: Prunings cut to 4-foot lengths, lumber cut into 4-inch lengths, tree trunks cut into 12-foot lengths, tree stumps/rootballs 12 feet in diameter or less, clean wood (i.e., no oil paint, nails or metal hardware). Put leaves and lawn clippings into your greenwaste cart for regular pick-up.
Metal: Refrigerators (secure or remove doors), lawn furniture, pipe, appliances, stoves, water heaters, clean auto parts, lawn mowers and miscellaneous scrap metal.
Electronics and miscellaneous: Computers, televisions, phones, other e-waste electronics, mattresses, furniture, carpeting and padding (rolled and tied), bagged and boxed trash-debris, car tires, truck tires, open, empty and dry paint cans.
Items not accepted include: Dirt, sod, motor oil, cement, concrete, asphalt, bricks, rocks, chemicals, paint, solvents, herbicides, pesticides, fluorescent lights, car and home batteries heavy equipment tires, construction debris of any kind and roofing material.
The Clean-up, Drop-off event is sponsored by the city of Chowchilla and Mid Valley Disposal.
