Hikers and nature-lovers can follow in the footsteps of naturalist John Muir on a guided trek through Yosemite National Park, including Hetch Hetchy Valley.
Experienced guides will lead one-, four- and seven-day hikes from July 24 through July 30. The event, called "Muir's March," is organized by the group Restore Hetch Hetchy, and will draw attention to efforts to restore the Hetch Hetchy Valley, a remote part of Yosemite National Park that was flooded in 1913 to provide water for San Francisco.
The event is to hikers of all skill levels, but space is limited. The hikes will converge July 30 on the O'Shaughnessy Dam, for a rally and celebration. The cost of the hikes ranges from $90 to $2,100, depending on the number of days.
