Two men shot in Atwater, suspect sought
Two people were shot Friday night in Atwater, the Police Department reported.
However, it remained unclear Saturday whether the two victims were shot during the same incident, Sgt. Dick Wisdom told the Sun-Star.
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to the 1400 block of Bellevue Road where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to his groin, leg and foot, police said.
The victim, a 20-year-old male, was taken to a regional hospital. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
A short time later, Wisdom said, a 19-year-old man arrived at Mercy Medical Center Merced suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
“We believe the shooting may be, possibly could be, connected, but it’s still under investigation,” Wisdom said.
No arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions have been released. The motive for the shooting remained unclear Saturday.
