Several shots-fired calls reported Tuesday in Merced
Merced police responded to a pair of shootings Tuesday – the most recent reported on West First Street, while the other was reported on West Fourth Street.
No injuries were reported in either case, and no information on suspects was available.
Police responded to a residence in the 1300 block of First Street at 9:14 p.m. Tuesday on a call of shots fired, according to a Merced police news release.
When officers arrived, they discovered the front window of the residence had been shot and broken. The officers checked the area but didn’t find suspects or witnesses. Police determined at least three shots had been fired into the residence.
The occupants of the home reported that they didn’t see or hear anything.
In the other case, officers responded to a home in the 1100 block of Fourth Street three times throughout the early morning. The shots-fired calls came in at 12:22 a.m., 1:02 a.m. and 2:19 a.m. Tuesday, according to the news release.
After the first call, officers arrived and discovered the home had been hit by gunfire several times by an unknown shooter. The second time officers responded, they discovered that two vehicles parked in the driveway had been hit by bullets. After responding to the third call, officers located several shotgun casings in the street, and the back window to one of the vehicles was broken out. The front door to the same residence had been struck and damaged by several shotgun rounds, the release said.
