Man shot in Dos Palos drive-by attack

A man in the Dos Palos area suffered a gunshot wound to his arm Wednesday night during an apparent drive-by attack, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.

The victim, Cruz Vasquez, whose age was unavailable, told police he was shot about 9 p.m. while standing in the 16000 block of Colony Street, but did not provide investigators with further details, Sgt. Delray Shelton said.

Vasquez was shot once in his right forearm and taken to a regional hospital for treatment. His injury was not life-threatening, deputies said.

Deputies believe multiple shots were fired from a vehicle during the attack. The vehicle was described only as a small brown car, authorities said. No arrests have been made.
