Merced man stabbed, two suspects sought

A 31-year-old Merced man suffered at least two stab wounds Saturday night and investigators are looking for two female suspects, according to police.

Investigators believe the man was walking around 11 p.m. in the area of the 100 or 200 block of Brookdale Drive when he was approached by two women, Merced police Sgt. Robert Solis told the Sun-Star.

“They didn’t say a word to him, and one of them had a knife and stabbed him with it,” Solis said. “He had at least two visible wounds to the right side of the middle area of his torso.”

The victim then apparently walked to a Merced business in the 2900 block of G Street and employees called for emergency responders.

He was taken to a regional hospital for treatment, police said.

Solis said the motive for the violence remained unclear, but said the victim told investigators the attack was random.

“We’d like anyone who witnessed it or knows anything about it to contact us,” Solis said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Merced Police Department’s detectives unit at (209) 385-4702 or the department’s tipster line at (209) 385-4725.
